They do look alien! I'm having trouble working out if it's a photo or a painting. I do see that it's labelled photography, so I'm hoping that that is a clue to the mystified.
It *is* a photo, just taken from a strange (low) angle, looking up at the sky.
My jeans were quite muddy after that - a fetching effect in itself.
